10 volcanoes closest to me

hi guys here is my post about where 10 volcanoes are closest to me! and if you are confused with why the mount roskill volcano has three kings in it let me explain, so the mount roskill volcano and the three kings volcano are both together like half of the volcano is in mount roskill and the other part of the volcano is three kings! so it's kind of like sharing a volcano.

what are 10 volcanoes closest to you?

bye blog ya later!!!

  1. Kia ora Zara. This post stood out to me because it reminded me of when I ran up 10 volcanoes in a day for charity many years ago. 6 of the volcanoes on your map were on my list. I'm not sure what my closest volcano is because I'm way out west in Muriwai now. Maybe Owairaka. I remember when you used to be able to drive up to the top of most of these volcanoes but then they banned cars. Do you think that was a good idea?

    1. hi phil thanks for your comment and I'm glad that my post reminded you of a memory and I think a good goal is to find out which volcano is closest to you maybe it is owairaka but who knows? maybe you live right on top of one! and I mean if those volcanoes were active it would be a good idea to ban cars from driving up them but if they aren't activated then no, what are the 10 volcanos you ran up to called?

    2. Thanks for the reply Zara. I think keeping cars off all volcanoes is good because of air pollution and erosion. Hmm, good question, let's see: Owairaka, Puketapapa, Maungakiekie, Maungawhau, Three Kings, Mangere, one in Ōtahuhu, Mt Wellington and two on the north shore. I'd like to know all the names in te reo Māori. That might be a good project?

  2. Kia ora Zara, that's neat to see your 10 closest volcanoes on a map. We're lucky to live in such a unique environment in Auckland with so many volcanoes! Have you walked or run up to the top of any? I've walked to the top of Owairaka, Maungawhau, and Rangitoto.

  3. Kia ora Zara, you have certainly learnt lots about volcanoes. We live in an amazing city where there are 53 volcanoes. I am going to try and count how many I have climbed since living in Auckland. I like the way you have placed them on the map.
